Fils de l\u2019\u00e9crivain Pascal Jardin, il est \u00e9galement le petit-fils de Jean Jardin, politicien et directeur de cabinet de Pierre Laval. C\u2019est \u00e0 20 ans qu\u2019Alexandre Jardin, alors \u00e9tudiant, \u00e9crit son premier roman \u00ab Bille en t\u00eate \u00bb (1985) qui remportera un succ\u00e8s imm\u00e9diat. Un an plus tard, le Prix du Premier roman lui sera d\u00e9cern\u00e9. Il obtient ensuite un dipl\u00f4me \u00e0 Sciences Po, mais d\u00e9cide de se consacrer plut\u00f4t \u00e0 la litt\u00e9rature et \u00e0 la sc\u00e9narisation.<\/p>\n<p>Parall\u00e8lement \u00e0 ses activit\u00e9s litt\u00e9raires et cin\u00e9matographiques, Alexandre Jardin devient \u00e9galement journaliste. Il est tout d\u2019abord chroniqueur au Figaro, puis chroniqueur litt\u00e9raire pour Canal+ dans l\u2019\u00e9mission Nulle part ailleurs. \u00c0 23 ans, il se marie et fondera par la suite une famille de cinq enfants. Poursuivant sa carri\u00e8re de romancier, il publie r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement ses romans, entre autres \u00ab Le Z\u00e8bre \u00bb en 1988 qui recevra le Prix Femina, \u00ab Fanfan \u00bb en 1990 et \u00ab Le Petit sauvage \u00bb en 1992. D\u2019autres suivront. Certains de ses romans seront adapt\u00e9s \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cran comme \u00ab Le Z\u00e8bre \u00bb par Jean Poiret en 1992 avec Thierry Lhermitte dans le r\u00f4le principal, et \u00ab Fanfan \u00bb mis en sc\u00e8ne par le romancier lui-m\u00eame en 1993 avec Sophie Marceau et Vincent Perez. En 1996, Alexandre Jardin r\u00e9alise un nouveau film \u00ab Oui \u00bb, une com\u00e9die o\u00f9 il joue un r\u00f4le aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s notamment de Miguel Bos\u00e9, Pierre Palmade, Catherine Jacob et Dany Boon. L\u2019ann\u00e9e suivante, il livre un roman autobiographique sur son p\u00e8re, \u00ab Le Zubial \u00bb, premier ouvrage d\u2019une trilogie familiale : \u00ab Le Roman des Jardin \u00bb en 2005 qui raconte avec beaucoup de dr\u00f4lerie l\u2019histoire de sa famille et \u00ab Chaque femme est un roman \u00bb, en 2008, qui rend gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 toutes celles qui ont fait son \u00e9ducation, en premier lieu sa m\u00e8re. En 2004, il publie deux versions du m\u00eame roman \u00ab Les Colori\u00e9s \u00bb, l\u2019un s\u2019adressant aux adultes, l\u2019autre, aux enfants et aux adolescents. En 2011, il revient sur ce qu\u2019il appelle le d\u00e9ni autour du pass\u00e9 vichyssois de son grand-p\u00e8re. Ainsi publie-t-il \u00ab Des Gens tr\u00e8s bien \u00bb, dans lequel il brosse le portrait de Jean Jardin, quand il \u00e9tait directeur de cabinet de Pierre Laval, s\u2019interrogeant de ce fait sur son r\u00f4le dans la Rafle du Veld \u2019Hiv. Suite \u00e0 l\u2019onde de choc provoqu\u00e9e dans son entourage \u00e0 la sortie du livre, il publiera l\u2019ann\u00e9e d\u2019apr\u00e8s \u00ab Joyeux No\u00ebl ! \u00bb, histoire fictive du clan Diskredapl, riche famille d\u2019affaires \u00e9tablie en Suisse et au sein de laquelle une jeune femme pense possible de tout r\u00e9v\u00e9ler, pensant que \u00ab toute c\u00e9cit\u00e9 est pr\u00e9judice \u00bb. Sur un autre plan, ce brillant romancier s\u2019est aussi engag\u00e9 dans le monde associatif. En 1999, il devient membre fondateur de l\u2019association Lire et faire lire, regroupant une centaine d\u2019\u00e9crivains et ayant pour but la transmission d\u2019une \u00e9ducation litt\u00e9raire \u00e0 la jeunesse. Dans le m\u00eame contexte, il cr\u00e9e en 2002 une association, Mille mots, \u00e0 vocation \u00e9ducative.
